Chlorinator operation options
There are two ways to run the chlorinator with a solar pool pump.
1. Running separately (not linked to the pump)
This is the most common method. Simply set the chlorinator on a timer so it only runs during sunny hours. For example, if you need 6 hours of chlorination, set it from 9am to 3pm. If you need 8 hours, set it from 8am to 4pm. About 95 percent of installations use this setup.
2. Running together (linked to the pump)
If you prefer the chlorinator to turn on only when the pump is running, you will need a flow switch and a flow controlled GPO. In this setup, the chlorinator is set to manual. When the pump starts, the flow switch activates the GPO and powers the chlorinator. When the pump stops, the GPO turns off and the chlorinator stops as well.
