Commodore Australia’s Off-Grid Solar Solution Powers South Australia’s Blyth Battery Construction Site

Commodore Australia has helped Greenlight Elecnor Contractors with an off-grid solar solution for the Blyth Battery construction site in South Australia. This portable and highly customised system was meticulously designed to meet Elecnor’s energy consumption requirements.

The system includes:

  • 30kVA of 3phase inverter power by Victron Energy
  • 75kWh of battery storage by Pylontech
  • 42kW of solar to recharge and run the site during the daytime

A consortium of Elecnor and NHOA is constructing the Blyth Battery, a large-scale grid-connected battery installation. The battery will boast a capacity of 200MW/400MWh. It will store renewable energy from the Goyder South Stage 1 wind farm.

The system’s portability also makes it perfect for construction sites because you can easily move it to the next project after completing the Blyth Battery project.

Some of the system’s other benefits include:

  • Cost Savings: The deployment of an off-grid solar solution at this highly remote SA location, helps Elecnor reduce their reliance on traditional power sources, resulting in long-term cost savings.
  • Energy Independence: The off-grid system provides the construction site with energy independence, eliminating the need for grid connection and associated infrastructure.
  • Sustainability: The system uses renewable energy from the sun, which helps to reduce the site’s carbon footprint.
  • Reliability: The system is able to meet the site’s power requirements even during cloudy days or at night.
  • Portability: Once the Blyth Battery project finishes, you can easily move the system to the next project.
